LET IT SNOW!

Like just about everyone in a 300-mile radius, we are snowed in! As a result of the snow I not only have a day off but I now have time to do a long-overdue post.

Our snow started last night at about 9:00PM. I closed the store last night and left from Frederick for home at about 11:30PM. At that time there was only about 1 or 2 inches on the ground, but it still took me over an hour to get home - normally that's a 35 minute trip. When we woke up this morning we had about 8 inches and as I write this (7:00PM), we're up to at least 18 inches and it's still coming down.

This morning after Annie had breakfast we decided to venture out into the snow. I shoveled the path in the backyard about 2/3 of the way towards the back fence and we and Annie walked up and down for about half an hour. The snow was much too high for Annie to walk through it, so she contented herself with touching it with her mitten ("it's soft!") and sitting down in the snow.

This is what the front side of the house looked like at about 11 this morning after I finished shoveling the driveway - just so there won't be quite as much to shovel tomorrow morning. On the left side of the above picture you can see... our minivan! We finally got it back from the body shop the week before Thanksgiving.

Annie is excited about Christmas, although I don't really think she understands that there is a particular day that is Christmas and that we're getting closer every day. She knows about Santa and can tell you that Santa is coming for Christmas, but I think it's all still a little abstract. Once Christmas morning comes I think she's going to be pretty surprised.

Here are some of our favorite photos from the last two months...

This is from a few weeks ago when Kelly set Annie up to do a little painting.

All set to go dashing through the snow.

This was from our first snow of the season two weeks ago. There wasn't much snow but it was wet and good for snowman making, so Kelly made sure that Annie got a chance to build a snowman.

Finally, here's Annie "reading" The Night Before Christmas. She's really just reciting the story from memory but she does a pretty good job, at least until the end when she loses interest. To everyone reading this, Kelly, Annie, and I all wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
