Scenes from the Snowpocalypse

Seems like I just did a "look at all this snow" blog post. Well, ok, it was over a month ago. I guess there's something about a snow day that reminds me that I haven't posted anything in a while.

The three of us are, thank goodness, spending the weekend safe and warm at home. I had been scheduled to work today but for once the retail gods smiled and the mall was closed all day. I spent a good chunk of time shoveling, of course, but we did get Annie out for half an hour or so.

She wanted to build a snowman but the snow was much too powdery. So we carved a snowman torso out of the snow on the ground with some sticks for arms and a face, and that seemed to be close enough for the time being.

I didn't actually measure the total snowfall but I'd say we averaged about 20 inches. However, there was quite a lot of drifting going on and we had a few spots that were at least 3 feet. For some reason snow really piled up in between the garage and the front of our van, for example.

In non-snow news, Christmas came and went and we all had a very good time. Annie still tells me that she has dreamt about "Santa Claus and the little reindeer" every time I get her up from a nap, and she still asks to watch Polar Express every day or two. We finally had to put away the Night Before Christmas book - reading it every day is fine during Christmas but kind of strange in the middle of January.

This is birthday week at our house - I'll be 34 this Tuesday and Annie will be 2 on Saturday. We're definitely looking forward to Annie's birthday - last year she really didn't have much of an idea about what was happening but she definitely knows what a birthday is now.

Finally, I thought I'd just pop in a few random pictures just because we like them.

Annie with Aunt Reenie and Keegan, a.k.a. "Mr. Cool".

Annie and I working on our Rubik's Cubes. Someday one of us will solve it and at this rate it will probably not be me.

The three of us spent a very nice weekend with newlyweds Kerry and Barry a couple of weeks ago at their new house!

While we were at Kerry and Barry's, Uncle Dave, Aunt Linda, and cousin Lily drove over to visit for dinner. Lily had a educational video game with her that Annie was completely obsessed with, as you can see. This is actually the best of three attempts to get a picture of the two of them.

Annie and London relaxing together in the red chair.

This was the day Annie discovered chocolate pudding at Eve and Max's. She told me that evening, "I woooooooove chocowate pudding".

And if we have a picture of Eve we must have one of Max, who according to Kelly is a pro at trampoline at the tender age of 1.

Until the next blizzard....
